Top 5 Manufacturers

The I.T. and telecomms analysts at IDC have released details of the world's top mobile phone manufacturers.


They've placed Nokia in first place with 35% of the global market, meaning that over one in three of all mobile phones sold is a Nokia. Second is Motorola with 15.5%, third is Samsung with 11.5%, fourth is Siemens with 8.7% and fifth is LG Electronics with 5.8%


Sony Ericsson has dropped to 6th position with a 5.5% market share.

Microsoft claims that 100 million mobile devices will be running the Windows Smartphone operating system by 2007, with a 'large percentage' of the devices being mobile phones (not PDAs).
