The Sunday Times reports that Vodafone is rethinking its 3G strategy; effectively increasing the cost of 3G handsets by cutting the subsidies offered to retailers. The company admits video calling isn't used by many people but points to the success of its third-generation mobile TV service.

HMV to sell Vodafone and Orange mobiles

Brand Republic reports that music retailer HMV is to sell Vodafone and Orange music-playing mobile phones on 'pay monthly' contracts. The scheme, which is currently just a trial, will be launched in 21 stores.

New TV show has contestants at home using mobiles

Midnight Money Madness, a new TV show in the USA, will let viewers take part by texting, using the web or by calling a premium rate phone line. The programme is being made by Endemol - creators of Deal or No Deal, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? and Big Brother - which means we may well see it in the UK soon.
